Some Wicked Cool Photos

I just wanted to put up some photos and some short stories to go with each.

This is the assembly of the rocking horse. Yu-Chi likes horses. When I went to a DIY woodwork shop with my kindergarten kids I saw this kit. I knew it would make a great gift. The construction ended up being fairly clever. Using just a simple Allen wrench they came up with a design that resulted in a clean and simple, but strong, rocking horse. Plans to paint it are still in the works. A zebra pattern is being strongly considered.

I took this looking down a footbridge in the Meqmegi (worst romanization ever) area of Taiwan's east coast. It crosses a substantial river to the power station and tunnel on the other side. Unfortunately we couldn't use it that day. We were told there was a risk of electrocution.

This is Bagels and Hei-Jui hanging out by the river. They're just both really cute. Bagels is exhausted now from the trip, splayed out sleeping on the floor.

This is me and Yu-Chi at the summit of one of three peaks we went up today. They were all pretty easy hikes. Bagels and Hei-Jui each came along for two of them. We had great views of the other peaks in the area and some look much more daunting. It's funny, when you're near the top of a mountain it doesn't seem at all amazing. When it's most impressive is when you stand away from it, when it still seems impossible. Mt. Chilai's north peak looks like that.

That's me with Mt. Chilai's north peak in the background.
