Sick in Taiwan

I found out on Tuesday that I have pneumonia. I've been on antibiotics and bedrest and I'm already starting to feel better. I haven't had a fever since Monday night which is a very good sign. Being sick here isn't as big a challenge as what I've dealt with back home at times. I pay a monthly insurance fee from my paycheck to help fund the National Health System. It's a very small fee, it might be less than 2%. I have a health card with a small memory chip in it that I present to the doctor or hospital whenever I visit. So far, my cumulative bill for the pneumonia including three doctor visits, an x-ray, and a few different medications is under 1000 nt or $33 US. At times I've had to wait for a while, but I have things I can do while I wait. My other option for treatment was to stay in the hospital, but so far that hasn't proven necessary. If my fever returns I will have to stay in the hospital.

I just wanted to give that update and assure everyone that I'm doing ok, thanks for checking in on me.
